You’ve found the ring of her dreams, and now you need to protect it. Specialised jewellery insurance provides round-the-clock cover for that gorgeous sparkler. Whether you’re working from home or hiking a mountain peak, it will be protected no matter where you go.

Now all you have to do is secure that insurance. Fortunately, the process is simple and straightforward. Here at Q Report, we just need a few documents to process your application and start your coverage.

If You’re Seeking Insurance For a Ring You’ve Previously Purchased…

If you’ve already purchased the ring, we’ll need the following documents:

Receipt of Purchase

The receipt for your ring provides useful information about the ring’s value, age and origin. Even if you bought the ring years ago, it still helps underwriting to accurately assess the piece’s value and assign an appropriate Agreed Value.

Photo of Ring

Photographs of your ring document its condition and unique characteristics. Please send images of both the top and side views of your ring, so we have an accurate picture of its dimensions and design.

Valuation

A ring’s value may change over time depending on market conditions, exchange rates and current demand for precious metals and stones. Because of this, we provide our customers with a complimentary revaluation each year upon renewal. To begin the policy, we’ll need an accurate assessment.

Diamond / Gemstone Certificate

Diamond and gemstone certificates include information about the stone’s carat weight, clarity, cut and colour. Two diamonds of the same size can have vastly different values depending on their occlusions, craftsmanship and other characteristics.

Proof of Possession

To prove that you have the ring in your possession, all you have to do is take a photo of it in front of a document with today’s date. A newspaper or receipt works well for this requirement.

If you don’t have one or more of these documents, give us a call. We’ll work through the issue and figure out a solution.

If you purchase your ring through a Q Certified Jeweller…

From Diamond Boulevard in Gold Coast, Queensland, to Affinity Diamonds in Sydney CBD, it’s not difficult to find a Q Certified Jeweller. And the benefits of buying from one of these fine establishments are many.

For one, you can purchase Q Report ring insurance at the point of sale, and you don’t have to provide any further documentation. Your jeweller will handle all the details, and you can walk out of the store with an exquisite, fully-insured ring.

What happens when it’s time to renew my policy?

As we mentioned before, jewellery market values fluctuate. That’s why we include a revaluation as part of the renewal process of your Q Report policy. Each year, your ring will be analysed by our proprietary software and expert in-house jewellers. They’ll research any changes to the costs of raw materials and how that may impact the value of your ring in today’s market. We do this revaluation at no charge to you.

Following this review process, you’ll receive an invitation to renew your policy 28 days before the expiration of your policy. At that point, you have the option to either pay the annual policy amount payable or pay by monthly instalments and be insured for the next 12 months.

What if I want to add another piece of jewellery to my policy?

Once you experience the peace of mind and freedom associated with specialised jewellery insurance, you may want to insure another item. Our customers often mention how much more they get to enjoy their jewellery, knowing it’s protected from the unexpected.

Suppose you want to add another piece of jewellery to your ring policy. In that case, all you have to do is provide the documentation mentioned above and include your current policy number in your email. That way, we’ll be able to link the cover for your new piece to the policy for your ring.

Simply email info@qreport.com.au with the following:

  • Q Report policy number (this begins with RP)
  • Receipt of purchase
  • Photo of jewellery (top and side view)
  • Valuation
  • Diamond / Gemstone certificate (if applicable)
  • Proof of possession – take a picture of the item in front of a document with today’s date (e.g. a newspaper or receipt).

Understanding Mechanical Movements

Rolex-super-precision

Unlike their battery-powered quartz counterparts, luxury watches have a beating heart – the mechanical movement. First created in the 14th century, large, weight-driven tower clocks with verge escapements and foliot balances marked the dawn of mechanical timekeeping.

Today, the core concept of mechanical movements remains unchanged from its original conception. It involves an intricate arrangement of gears, springs, and an escapement powered by a wound mainspring. This precision engineering allows for smooth operation and precise timekeeping.

Manual watch movements require the wearer to wind the crown periodically. Automatic watch movements, on the other hand, utilise the wearer's movements to keep the mainspring wound, offering a convenient everyday solution.

The Patek Philippe Calatrava, with its ultra-thin manual movement, exemplifies the elegance of traditional watchmaking. On the other hand, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual, with its self-winding mechanism epitomises practicality and durability.

Whether manual or automatic, a mechanical movement imbues a luxury watch with a soul, a testament to human ingenuity and a treasured heirloom for generations to come

Luxury Watch Complications: Exploring Hidden Features & Functionality

Luxury watches often boast 'complications,' intricate mechanisms that add layers of sophistication, style and utility. Here, we explore some of the most fascinating complications created by the best luxury watch brands.

Budget Considerations

Diamond shapes can vary in price due to popularity and demand. Round brilliants, for example, tend to be more expensive than other shapes due to their high demand. If budget is a concern, consider alternative shapes or prioritise other aspects, such as cut quality, over the shape itself.
